Depends where the discussion happens. My wiki implementation will have a
comment chain / mailing list attached to each page.
You also can file-attach an IRC log.

Wrt. working out prerequisite mounts, it would probably be nice to
integrate that functionality into getmntent, so rather than having that
loop, you could do something like
getmntent --prerequisites /home
That makes sense.
