I have been experimenting with tracked changes and they look ideal for
indicating Editor's changes to a Standard document. However, I cannot see
how to 'reset' the track once changes have been approved. It seems one can
either show all changes ever made to the document, or none at all?

It is a filter issue with the OOXML .docx rendering of CJK and Latin fonts.
Probably worth opening a bug report against.
Not really an answer, especially if you must substantially alter the
document, however you can export from Office

I did, but I had thought that 'Manage Changes' just let you find changes, by
author, etc. I now see it also affects what's shown in the document -- so
it's exactly what I need.
Actually I test only write and calc.
Write worked just fine, but calc closes it self when I start working, It's
happends in bouth new an old documents. I do removed my past config files
(~/.config/libreoffice) with no luck and tried to open it using the
terminal if I can see something funny.
