Have you tried installing the flatpak version instead?
My understanding is that flatpak includes the dependencies within the
installation, instead of using the distro.
It makes for a larger download, but reduces the likelihood of failure or
taking weeks to get it to boot.
You can find pretty much all versions of LO available at
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/
You have to poke around to find the one you want, but they're all there.
