I see GATEWAY being set in either /etc/sysconfig/network or
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethx depending on wether
you want the same value for all (ether)nets.
But where is this used in a call to xntpd?

How do I find the definition of a string in /usr/include?
OK, there has got to be a better way to do this than with find and
grep (which isnt working). BUT how does one find the definition
of a string in /usr/include ???
In particular, I KNOW that month is defined SOMEWHERE, but Im
not finding
Re my previous question about finding a string, the string in fact is 'months'.

Even without using 'find' to go into subdirectories, that gives 1100
garbage lines.

I set my screen size to 1280x1024 in my xorg.conf
This worked fine up thru Fedora 11 (I dont currently have running copies
of F12 or F13 to test it there) but it DOES NOT WORK in Fedora14.
In Fedora14 I get 1024x768 with or without the xorg.conf.
Now my actual screen is behind a KVM so that is

Have you tried just setting: Modes 1280x1024?
That was one of my first experiments, it just ignores it.
Have you checked the output of xrandr for all versions of Fedora?

Have you configured Networkmanager?
Actually, my first attempt or two was with
system-config-firewall? You might have the firewall enabled (I think it's on
by default) which may be dropping all ICMP packets. Can you get out to the
internet? Do you know for sure that the network is NOT working or do you
just assume that it's not working since you can't ping the

I have just setup the nameserver (named) in FC11.
During the startup of the nameserver (from init.d), there is the error message:
the working directory is not writable
(I assume this is an error). What is it complaining about (what directory)
and should I change some permissions

I see at least two major problems with X11 (and the nouveau driver for Nvidia
cards).
(1) The driver no longer understands ctlalt+ and ctlalt- to move
among the definitions on the MODE line.
(2) On two separate systems here,
