Yes, I never used it for smb.conf either because I know where that
is and how to edit i

system-config-samba with a stick. :) Smb.cof generated by it is bloated
beyond reason.
First of all, You have to set up a standard unix user with useradd and
passwd. Username may be the same as on Windows client. Now type
smbpasswd -a
to specify *samba* password for that user.
I admit the old system-config-samba tool looked
very lame, but it was the only non-cryptic way
I ever found to define a samba user for my
Windows systems to connect as.
In that tool, I'd go to Preferences>Samba Users..
then I could associate a unix user name with a
windows user name and spec
I have problem starting system-config-samba-1.2.100-1.fc18. I get
following error:

I try to use system-config-samba and I cannot because I get a quite
cryptic message:

« org.fedoraproject.config.samba.configure » n'a pas pu être obtenue.
L'application va maintenant se

If I cancel the window with this message, nothing happens.
Alternatively you can open up a terminal, became root with su then

This works, but poorly: I can add a shares, but only a directory, not a

Now I have new problems: I tried to use swat. Installed everything,

printers addressed by samba can be added by: system-config-printer
OK! but this does not explain why:
1- why system-config-samba is unable to offer a possibility to add
on the authentication
window.
