I have the same issue with the DOCROOT error.
Allthough the JSF Kickstart sample App is working.
I think it has (in my case) somehow todo with the faces-config.xml file
within the trinidad-impl-1.2.1.jar file.
In META-INF there is a faces-config.xml.
First part of the file :
?xml version=1.0
: Document root element faces-config, must
match DOCTYPE root null.
This 1.2.1 faces-config.xml is getting validated against a schema and
connects to java.sun.com.

just taking a wild guess - but have you checked whether this behaviour
might be browser related? i remember that some had issues regarding the
handling of uploads, so maybe the request part is messed up by the client
and you therefore see errors on the server (e.g. myfaces)...

is your backing bean a request scoped bean? I've had problems with
commandLinks in tables when the backing bean is in request scope,
perhaps its related to that. The simplest solution was to put the
backing bean to session scope.

It looks like you're using Facelets. In that case, make sure you have a
taglib.xml file on your classpath. That's needed for a library to work with
Facelets.

This tag must reside within the top level XHTML file for the given viewId,
not in a template.
Is this true in your case?
