Hello there,
Earlier today I was searching a particular piece of music in within my
CD collection, it reminded me that one day I was thinking of creating a
database so that I would find the wanted music faster! Maybe now is a
good time to start this. So I thought I should start by asking two

Thank you Brian! Sorry I was not aware that I was on the English
speaking list!
regards,
Freddy

There is one good reason not to use the Debian packages: Java!
I for myself installed Java from Sun, and OOo from the official sites.

to uninstall OO.o and to install JRE from Sun and OO.o from the

I am happy to say that on my Debian unstable and with version 2.04
installed from rpm's and with Sun Java, word count is working for me.
That is, I go to Tools - Statistics and I have a little window opening

As promised, I tried this functionality on a Windows XP sp2 machine with
OOo 2.0.4 and it worked only partly: if I select the text, it counts the
words, unselected in gives 0's for every count (words and characters,
selected and whole text).

I can read WordPerfect files within OOo, and this is so since version

Dear all,
I would like to migrate our office from WordPerfect to OpenOffice.org.
We already use OOo Calc and Writer a lot, but the last only for a
limited amount of text documents. I tried to find a replacement for the
text merge function as it works in WP. I wonder if someone has a usable
If you scanned only text, then you could of coarse select the text en
