In addition to what others have suggested, you should check that your OS 
has the Brother printer identified as the "default" printer.

Hi Ted,

Do you use the print button? If yes, then try printing using menu File > 
Print... You get a dialog, where you can select the printer in the upper 
part.


Does printing to BROTHER works then?

A usual cure for occasional printer problems after OpenOffice upgrade on 
Windows 10 is to reinstall the printer drivers.  Check also that you are using 
the latest drivers from that manufacturer - check with their site and install 
by hand if necessary.

General Remarks. Apache OpenOffice 4.1.3 is a maintenance release incorporating 
important bug fixes, security fixes, updated dictionaries, and build fixes.




I have never had a problem opening the app once I told Gatekeeper to allow the 
install. There is however a known (I believe) problem where it will sometimes 
crash on opening - I just keep trying until it opens. I suspect there is some 
sort of resource conflict. This is rare problem but annoying. It will 
eventually open though.

For some unknown reason Open Office will not download properly.  I have been 
using Open Office for years as I have found it to be MUCH better than the one 
that takes over your work.  Easy to use, and has all the extras.  After a 
thorough cleaning I noticed my Open Office had gone away.  So in my attempt to 
download it again, the logo will not come back (shows a Folder) and I cannot 
get it to open.  Perhaps you can guide me in the right direction.  Thanking you 
in advance for your help.  Chuck…

Well you can edit your windows menu to link to your OpenOffice program. To
do this on a Windows you need to open the Windows Menu, right click and
select, add program and a dialog will ask you to *Choose File* and go to
your *Program Files *directory and select *Apache OpenOffice/soffice.exe*.
This will add an OpenOffice icon on your menu and will have a quick access
to OpenOffice.
