My wife bought a 1 L bottle of fabric softener at either T.J. Max or Marshals yesterday. The bottle's labels are entirely devoid of non-SI units and are written entirely in French -- even the list of ingredients. This tells me that our dual labeling laws are not enforced perfectly. Aw, shucks! Interestingly, while using the Alta-Vista Babelfish translator, I mistakenly typed "15 ml dan l'eau de rincage" instead of "15 ml dans l'eau de rincage". The "dan" got turned into dekanewtons (daN) by the program! (And the symbol used for milliliter was ml, not mL, even though the contents are shown as "1 L".) This product has been tested and has been found to be effective against "the acarina"* (the Babelfish translation). I feel confident that, as long as this bottle lasts, we will be protected against acariasis. As an allergy sufferer who is particularly sensitive to mites (their feces, actually), this has appeal and the perfume does not bother me. Most of the text from the labels is below. Jim * Acarina is the order of arachnids that includes mites and ticks; mites are of the family Acaridae. [partial text from the bottle:] Le Soin du linge.
