I have just received up-dated information abou the use of inches in the
rules of the Florida state science fair:
Apparently they do plan to reintroduce inches, but, contrary to my first
report on this issue, they do NOT plan to eliminate centimetres in the
description of the size limits for project displays. I do not yet know
exactly how it will be done (metric first with non-metric in parentheses or
vice versa, or some other way?) but I will try to find out. I will also
continue to argue that science students should know how to measure in
centimetres and, if they do not, they should be taught to do so.
