On the ship euros and pounds could be used and there I used the euro. As I did not want to run into problems in Britain I took pounds with me. In the 'Life' exposition in Newcastle payment could only be made in pounds. I could not see euros anywhere in Newcastle. In fact, I see no point in attempting to use the euro in Britain as long as that country has not adopted it.
