Last monday I travelled to Belfast, the capital of British Northern Ireland. I
see more metric here than expected. However, I think that Northern Ireland
will not change to metric on the roads when Ireland does so. Here and thee I
have seen metric head room signs, together with foot-inch ones. The metric
values are neat hard metric like: 12" on the imperial, 3.60 m on the metric
sign.
I saw an Orange Parade yesterday evening; now is the run up to the Twelfth of
July. Internet cafes are about 2 euros per hour in Dublin, but no less than 4
pounds per hour in Belfast! Yet I have to get rid of spam every now and then;
I have just removed scores of such pieces of trash from my pop-3 inbox!
The weather has been very good, rain on just two days, but then it was
copious.
