Can someone in Ireland tell us what the regulations are now (and whether they will be changing and when) regarding the units to be displayed on speedometers?
I'm asking because I'm wondering if it's legal to have speedometers showing km/h only. If so, it seems like a great opportunity to expand the number of used Japanese cars in Ireland since they sport right-hand drive and are apparently already a presence in Ireland. Assuming there are no other important restrictions or barriers (like import fees, pollution regulations that used Japanese cars don't meet, other regulations, etc.), I can see existing Japanese car dealers expanding their inventory of used Japanese cars to sell to folks needing to get rid of their current vehicle but who aren't ready to step up to a new one. One of their selling points could be that the speedometers allow easy reading of speed in km/h to match the new speed limit signs! Any thoughts out there regarding this (fanciful?) market opportunity to expand metric presence on the roads of Ireland?
