never really use hectolitres.

. And, for temperature, it’s Fahrenheit versus Celsius.
RJ: That’s it!
Mia: Umm, RJ, speaking of measurement, you’re never going to have enough
space to get all that stuff into one tiny suitcase.
*They both laugh.*

I've read some articles saying the Spanish government is reinstating the 120
km/h speed limits on July 1. The speed limits were changed back because the
population was outraged and the circumstances have changed.
Spain to axe speed limit imposed after oil price
in excess of
*300kph* on the race track - also ridiculed the lowered limit, quipping
that it was difficult to stay awake at less than 110km/h.

Stumbled upon this link through a meteorologist friend on Facebook who also
expressed his disapproval (his words: This is why I have to tell our
producers to never believe the AP 100% when it comes to weather stories.
Seriously? Boiling Point???).
The AP's outdone themselves.
people. Metrication has been brought up
several times in Congress before, and it can be again. It will happen; we've
just got to keep prodding the government.

P.S. Does anyone know where I can get physical addresses to mail senators
she should've been asleep!)
She was puzzled by m², so I was able to teach her about area as well! Small
steps, indeed; I'm optimistic.

(Semi-related side notes: more and more often, I've been hearing people
talk about distance—usually a range of distances—in yards, sadly, in
non-sports-related contexts, where, often, yards dominate
they do is change
the word and the distance is yards. i.e. The other person was 500 m away
becomes 500 yards away. Domestically in the US the measurement is feet.

In Spanish and Portuguese, it is kilómetro and quilômetro
(Brazilian)/quilómetro (European), respectively, stressed where accented.
It's technically a ki-LO-meter sound rather than a ki-LOM-eter sound, but
the same syllable is stressed. When reinforcing metric to my little sister,
I emphasize the
solution to our measurement problem is to metricate
very quickly and exclusively.
