Dear Post Office.
1. The Metric System is the only legal measurement system in the United States, made legal by the Metric Act of 1866. Imperial measurement were never legalized in the United States. 2. Hawaii has embarked on a course that could make Hawaii metric only by 2018 (see HB 36). 3. Nearly fifty thousand Americans signed a petition to make the Metric system the standard in the United States, instead of the Imperial system. A response from the White House says that Americans can "choose to live your life in metric if you want" which is a weak response at best. 4. The United States Post Office is not currently allowing Americans to fully follow that White House suggestion.
Solution:
A. United States Post Office package dimensions should be logical, rounded metric measures with optional parenthetical mention of Imperial measurements listed temporarily then gradually phased out. B. United States Post Office should change the word "Standard" to Imperial because in a global context, the word "Standard" makes no sense; let's call it what it really is.
