Distro? Where did you add the WEP key? What is the tool called in Gnome? At school after trying to connect what is the output of iwconfig? This should be a good start. yeah, it would have been good to include that. I'm running ubuntu 5.04 (hoary hedgehog). I added the WEP key in iwconfig in
