Andy, every little bit helps. The older maxes benefit more, mine started
at 9 lb's., now 6lb. 10oz. The later model has less to begin with, but
it can still be lightened more. Also when they rebalance them mine was
noticeably smoother. It will also slow down quicker, less mass to stop.

midrange and didn't loose anything on top. Also has better ground

Scott, don't drain the gas. Fill it to the top and add a good additive
so the gas doesn't deteriate. Run it for a few minutes, then drain the
carbs. Refil the tank to the top. Also change the oil and filter. If you
have a Battery Tender hook it up. Put the bike on the center stand and

Another friend wrecked his 85 and a salvage yard has it in Houston. It
has 37,000 on the motor, stage 7, lightened flywheel, Barnett clutch,
replacement cams from Dale Walker. The scoops are trashed and some other
cosmetic damage, but the bike is intact and a runner. The name is Sam's
Frank, thing is he's still 1-200.00 more than Mark McDade and I don't
see any thing done to equal primary tube length. As per his previous
products, the fit and finish won't match it either. Appreciate the pics,

Kraig for the runs you make, bump the pressure to 38-40 front 40-42
back, tires will run cooler on I-10. Also rebalance the front every
2,000 will keep them from cuppng, unless you run 20 lb's. of air in
them.

Mike, what kind of torch have you used? A Propane won't generate enough
heat quick enough. Something you can still try and it will help the
crank, also. Put it in the freezer for 8-10 hours. As soon as you take
it out have a aceteylene torch and puller ready. If it has a Rose Bud
use it. Just put
Ross, a heavy bike like the max needs more pressure. The sport bikes are
200 lb's. lighter and tire squirm isn't as bad. Yes you can run the hi
pressures on radials. Normally racers run 28-32 lb's., but if a tire
starts to blister you up the pressure and it runs cooler and helps to
keep the tread

Kraig, I've been using one of the Purolator filters that has the glass
center section with no problems. You can see partices in it that have
the consistantcy of powder. Nothing has gotten by it yet, I've even sent

Frank, I had a Hindle with stage 7 prior to Mark's pipe. There has been
no loss, in fact low and mid are stronger and nothing lost on top. It
had dynoed 123.1@9200 with a Hindle, thats with 93,000 on the clock.

I just got back from dyno. Frank, it made 2.8hp less total, but
continued thru 9,200 without going below 120hp. Torque was 78@7,400.
Before was 123.1@9,2000, Torque was 75@7600. Curves are very linear, you
could put a straight edge along them. Torque at 4,000 was 68 ft. lbs'.
Temp was 12* warmer

Marius, leaded gas will leave deposits and after awhile the heads will
have to come off to clean the crap off. Use a unleaded that has a 90 or
better octane rating. Don't go for the unleaded AV Gas as it won't make
anymore power, usually less, and cost more.

I agree with Bob. They bent you over, no grease, no KY, probably didn't
even give you a pat on the butt. On the valves every 26,000 miles they
need a check. They don't move much once they've been set. Anyone with a
new bike wait till you have 1,200-1,500 miles before the first service,

Frank, they used a new head for the ZRX11, they're not the same. Also
different cams and the carbs are side draft, not down draft like the
ZX11. If you don't like the looks, you can get the Euro setup that uses
a regular headlight and instruments. Price? Bandit is cheaper and you
can pick one up

Jim, most slip-ons don't need a jet change. Until you install and ride,
then make changes as needed. Too many poeple have been told they have to
put a jet kit in a stock exhaust max. BS! All it does is drop your
mileage, 8-10 or more mpg, and no power gain. A KN is easier to clean

John, you got work to do. The carbs need to come apart, soaked in
cleaner for a day or so. You may need to replace the slow jets as they
have only a .013-.015 hole in them. The gas tank probably has all kinds
of crap in it. When you tried to start it, a bunch of BS in the tank is
all through the

The max isn't hard on rear rotors, its 99% of people are use to stoppig
with their foot. The ductile iron will be a good upgrade. Want to get
use to braking with the front like you should? Take the brake pedal off
and ride around for a month or so, you'll learn how to use the front
brakes as they

Wayne, no mods to the jetting. If the back two are running hotter you
may want to bump the mains one step. I ended up with Mikuni 160's in the
front and 162.5"s in the rear with the HIndle. So far no bluing on any,
it runs crisp all the way.

If you had water in the oil, you'd know it. On the used water pump,
don't. Get the new seals and save yourself some time and grief later not
having to go back in and redo it. There are two seals. One is a oil seal
