where I've worked I commonly get auto-generated reports
from the upper ups complaining about PHP vulnerabilities.
Do those reports actually show real vulnerability? Maybe. Probably not.
But if I have the option of blaming PHP for anything, I'll do it!

You can use mac-based groups in the dhcp servers.
You can use grub on a *shudder* floppy or small drive to tell it which image
to boot from.
There are other ways. Tell us a little more about your situation.
