Thanks.

Hi all,
Can anybody point it out to me the pros and cons of:
1. smtp auth
2. pop before smtp?
Thanks.

I hope it's not too silly for asking this:
When I was setting up a domain using vqadmin, what does it mean and how to

I'll take a crack at it.

Hi All:
I'm thinking about implementing domain quotas on a new mailserver with

Personally, I feel better knowing that each user authenticates before they
send mail with SMTP AUTH rather then keeping an ad-hoc list of IPs that have
POP-ed their mail in the last x-minutes. But that would be covered in Jeff's
conceptually a more elegant approach bullet.
Thanks,

I too would like to know the same information along those lines. Are the
quotas in qmail a way to control actual disk quotas on the file system,
meaning I'd have to have quota support in my kernel before I use this
feature, or is this just something ad-hoc that vpopmail has done at a
higher level

To the best of my knowledge, domain quotas do not work. There was a
time that they caused vdelivermail to crash, but now they just aren't
enforced.

Hi Tom:
Soft quotas are OK - do they send out emails? If not, I guess we could
write a script to check domain diskspace usuage.

Try changing your mailfilter script around to filter for no such user,
i.e. look at:

Ok, figured it out.
It is a spamassassin config issue - so sorry about the post on this list.
Not sure why I couldn't find it earlier when I was searching Google.

No, I don't think so.

Hello,
I'm running vpopmail, and I'm having the strangest
thing happen. There are approximately 4600 domains in
my morercpthosts file. However, only the first 2500
are working. Sending an email to any of the domains
past the 2500th line will bounce back saying that
relaying is denied, domain
Hi, I have a trouble and I hope you can help me..
I had a old server with qmail, vpopmail 4.9 and sqwebmail 1.0 on linux 6.1
without mysql support and this is working very good... actually I need
migrate it to other server (new server) with newers version of vpopmail
and sqwebmail and mysql
Hi,
The feature LEARN PASSWORDS in vpopmail should cover your problem.
After you migrate to the new server, the first time the user pop's in
vpopmail will learn the password for that user.
Read the vpopmail documentation and you'll find all the help needed.

Make sure you are running the vpopmail vpasswd program.
I've seen systems where both vpopmail and vmailmgr were
installed. Both packages have vpasswd programs.
Hrm...that looks to be the case...
How do I differentiate b/n vpopmail vmailmgr vpasswd commands?

You may want to pick up a UNIX for newbies book or manual, no offense.
You'd likely find it incredibly informative.
