So.. After all.. I found the problem.. I changed the qmail-queue program for the use with spamassassin to a bash script calling spamc and afterwards the original queue. I saw the method at http://sylvestre.ledru.info/howto/howto_qmail_spamassassin.php How do you guys start spamassassin ?

Iain, Vpopmail install can't find the mysql header files. Usually in /mysql/include/mysql for a standard install. ( Could be elsewhere, sorry don't use Redhat. ) Either include them in your PATH, or copy the lot to a directory that is in your path, say /usr/bin Then the install should wizz
