I now have on my web page a study of Bartolotti similar to the one I

I think this query came up before but I can't remember whether anyone knew the
answer to it.
In Bartolotti's Secondo Libro, the Allemandes usually start with a pick up
beat which is notated as two semi-quavers apparently to be played as up-strokes
