I had noticed this in previous versions but never really needed it.
Via /sparql HTML interface, choose Spreadsheet as result type
The returned file has the .xls extension and mime-type, but contains
an HTML table

Yes it is the expected behavior, and most of MS applications that can
open .xls can silently import this HTML into a new blank stylesheet. For
OpenOffice/StarOffice we should probably generate a portable zip of
XMLs, but there were no support requests for that.

I considered it. But again, the ability to define the local graph name
was important, and well as being able to do the configuration without
interacting with the conductor site. Virtuoso is acting as a backend
for another website, and that site defines which pages need to be
