Just a small remark about this subject. When I use the method [1], I
have to specify the full path, not just the relative path as shown in
the example.

The commercial version of virtuoso has a 'virtual database' capability. You
can create tables within virtuoso that are links to tables within other
rdbms. It's then possible to create rdf views and either materialize the
triples or query the rdbms data directly.

The relative path base is the server working directory i.e. in the place where
virtuoso.ini file is, and since your file is on desktop server can't find it
unless full path is given.
