Hi,
Does anyone use Inno Setup Compiler/ISTool to install VNC? I created my own setup
program to install just the server to host PCs with
correct registry settings and everything, and a few other VNC admin tools, such as
VNCon. I'm creating another setup program with a
newer version of some of
Hi,
I'm a new user to VNC, I'm hoping it will solve a problem I'm having.
My mum like playing with computer, problem is she is always getting a bit
lost with stuff.
I try and help over the phone. Most times I can pull it off, but not always.
I have XP installed and use the remote desktop a lot.

We use pcAnywhere because it allows us to NOT have a password
on each of our hundreds of servers. We use certain global
groups from our NT/AD domain.
Can I do this with VNC. I've only seen the option to

Xvnc acts as a client to the Xserver and server for the VNC client - like
another layer between. So you still need xfree86.

You should run TightVNC Java viewer as an application (not in the
applet mode), using a command line like this:
java VncViewer HOST my.vnchost.com PORT 443 SocketFactory
You might want to look further into this issue as I am using the
cordless Logitech mouse and driver on a 2k box as well as an XP box
without any problems for awhile now.

There are several users whon are using VNC to invoke a remote desktop on a Red

started at server bootup via the /etc/rc.local file, where each user account is
invoked. One example is the following:

Because other support programs and libraries come with Xfree86.
So shouldn't it be enough to get these support programs and

Jippie:
Heya. Here's what I do with my in-laws (no, really):
have them start a VNC Server and Add Client That connects
their Server to your Viewer, sort of a backwards connection
(better called a server-initiated connection). This way, you
tell your Mum what web address to type in,
I'm working on a Mini-HOWTO that will turn Xvnc into a way to get
low-cost X11 sessions without the X11 software or hardware on the
clients. This will allow X11 sessions from any platform that supports
VNC. It's not complete, and it could use some polish, but it's based on
my experiences.

Yes, but at what point will you have all of XFree86 installed? The GTK
components needed by your LMule program also have dependencies to be
considered.
thats true, but I want to try to keep the xserver small, because is don't
see any reason to use 600 MB of space just for one proggie... by that
