If you are new to (one of) RedHat or VNC, best start with the vnc packages
distributed with RedHat. Just install them as any other package, you can
also select them while installing RedHat.
Once you have that up and running, you can considder an upgrade if
neccessary.

I just started using VNC on Redhat 8.0 and have found that I can start up a

I would like to have the console's kde desktop in this session. That is to

Actually, it does decrypt Windows passwords. You simply need the encrypted password
from the Windows registry and then insert it into this line of the program:
/* put your password hash here in p[] */
char p[]={0x59,0x58,0x6e,0x10,0xa4,0x48,0xd3,0x80};
Also, even programs such as VNCon

HI, This may sound ominous but it's not, i'm doing some security
investigations into VNC and was wondering about the VNCDEC.c program
that is availiable. Am I right in assuming that once you compile the
source code that it will only run on Linux and will not decode Windows
machine passwords?

Heya. I recall reading that there may be a bug in the
latest Windows version, where you need to specify the port in
the VNC Server Properties to 0 (or something) and not choose

No on the first, I tried 0 and 1, neither worked...

The depots that I built packaged for 3.3.6 3.3.7 are on this server:

These were both built optimized for PA2.0 and I've done minimal testing

Hi,
I think vncserver is not far from a decent collaborative tool,
more than one vncviewer can connect to the same session.
A missing piece of functionality is to be able to manage
dynamic permission between multiple viewers,
- giving one viewer read/write access (using the

Has anyone been successful in compiling Real VNC 3.3.7 on HP platforms?
I'm specifically interested in HP-UX 11.00, but also HP-UX 10.20?
I've been able to generate binaries, but I can't get them to do anything

I'd be satisfied with a compilation
Alex,
If your looking for the ability for one person to have control (k/b
mouse) and another user view only, have a look at the latest release of
TightVNC, 1.2.8.
It has the option for a second password setting for that purpose.

I know about this feature, i'm looking for something more dynamic,
being able to toggle a connected user from 'view only' to 'control' mode.

Does anyone maintain a document or web site that documents all of the available

I'm having this problem. I've seen similar questions posted here but haven't
seen solution to it yet.
Here's what I have:
I want to VNC to my work PC using VPN (Cisco). I have DSL at home, and my
home PC is on LAN. (DSL modem, router, wireless card for each PC's.) I VPN,
and bring up the VNC
I've seen this happen with DNS problems based on the VPN. It depends on
what your DNS server is set to at the time. To check this, try using the
ip address of the machine that you want to connect to instead of the host
name. If it works, then it's the way your VPN is handling the DNS. And

Hello,
I am getting a failed to connect to server message when I run vncviewer from Windows
XP to SuSE Linux Professional 7.3.
I have no problems from SuSE to XP however.
From XP I can ping my linux box and vice versa, so networking is ok.
My XP has SP1.
Suse was installed with default install
