I tried to let two people see my desktop for the first time yesterday and
did not get the expected result. I think only one was able to see it at
time. When the logged in again they would see my desktop but the other
person would be knocked off.
They were using a URL like this
No. I had updated SP3 to SP4 for several machines and hadn't encountered any
problem. Couldn't you reinstall VNC again? Which version are you using, by the way?

I remember seeing in the Get Started guide that you would have to start
two instances of the server and the client ports would be 5801 and 5802
respectivly.

My reading is that there can be multiple clients on Windows 2000 (forgot to
mention that before) but they all see the same view (desktop).
I have tried to start more than one server in the past and this is not
allowed.
The solution may be to assign each viewer a display number rather

Dear all,
I'm running VNC Viewer on Windows XP and VNC Server on RH Linux 8 (FVWM2).
I'm also using autocutsel (http://www.lepton.fr/tools/autocutsel/) to
facilitate copy and paste between the two machines. Now, I'm able to copy
from the linux server and paste on windows applications, but not
I do not have an option button on my server tray icon.

On the client, not on the server. After you've enter the URL, you should have
a little button bar on top of the client Java area. Option is the only one you could
click at this stage. Look harder and you'll find it.

Yes got that. So I only need to have two ports 5800 5900 open for multiple
viewers?
Presumably the server can control this by only allowing one set display
number?
Many thanks

Try using a 2 step approach using xclipboard. I believe the problem you are
having is the same as I have had with Solaris. Cut and past can work through
cutbuffers or selections and most applications (including Xvnc) use one or the
other. As memory serves, Xvnc uses the older cutbuffers that
I am trying to accomplish a remote server install of VNC Version 4

a once off install of VNC server to all clients on the network through a

accomplished? I have
Would explain more of what you need to do? On single LAN? Using server
side connection? NAT/Firewall?
Thanks

Can someone tell what the command is to load vnc at startup in linux? I'm
running mandrake 9.1. I have it set in webmin to start automatically, but
it does not do it.
Also when I start it manully I can reach this machine from the net, but when
I connect I get a red screen on the server side.
I've ever tried to start at boot VNC on Mandrake 9.1.
I'm not a Guru so it's really hard when you want to setup your own listen port.
The trick is to setup webmin that start at boot by default when you are installing
Mandrake.
You make a Custom command in the other panel under Webmin like this
Hi Andre,
I haven't spent much time looking at the Unix vnc source, but from a
quick glance, it looks like it's structured quite differently from the
Windows code. :( Thus, porting my changes would not be
straightforward (and the changes are still in progress - the modified
system isn't
Unix has diferent paste buffers, autocutsel uses the one controlled
the middle mouse button. So to paste into unix you need to
use middle mouse button (or both left and right mouse button if you have
middle button emulation on)
That should do it...

I've installed RealVNC 4.04 beta on a redhat 7.3 i86 system, and enabled
the vnc module for XF86.
The good news is that it works great. I especially like the
auto-negotiation feature based on bandwidth.
I'm having trouble with seeing openGL windows updating, however. OpenGL
applications work
Thank you all :)
Pasting into Linux using the middle mouse button did the trick!

Which way are you trying to go. Do you want your client to automatically
connect to the server? Or do you wish the server to reverse back to the
client? You have not been clear about that. Describe what you want to
happen and maybe I can be specific.
However, either way you can make a script
I want to use VNC to have two machines share a

Both machines are pentiums (225/233Mhz) with 64M ram

My first machine is numbered 192.168.1.7. I want to
use it to control the second machine, which is
numbered 192.168.1.2.
