Strange problem suddenly

2006-06-12 Thread Randy Carr
This one is driving me crazy and I really hope someone has some help out there! I have been using VNC for several years now without a problem. I recently noticed that it is not functioning properly and I updated client/server to see if it fixed it but it did not. Here is what it is doing: I

send_events/synthetic keypresses

2006-06-12 Thread Kyle Rose
I have set up my .fvwm/config to pass through to vncviewer all keypresses that would otherwise be my WM keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Super-1 through 0 for switching virtual desktops): fvwm does this by capturing the KeyPress/Release events, checking the window name, and generating synthetic keypress

Hi Scott, There's no via option listed on when you run vncviewer -help with VNC Viewer 4.1.2, I'm afraid. It sounds like you're running a TightVNC viewer binary instead. Cheers, Wez @ RealVNC Ltd. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of

Client : hide New Connection - Prevent user from connecting to another host

2006-06-12 Thread Jx D
Hi all, I am new to the list. I need to force my user to connect on one host only (or some hosts, would be great, but one is enough). I tried to put the host on the command line of the .lnk (Windows). It works well, but user can click on system menu of VNC Window and start a new connection to

James, I now know that the standard RealVNC package does not contain the via option. However, I just learned that the Gentoo build of RealVNC 4.x applies a patch, called vnc-via.patch that installs the functionality. So, I really am running RealVNC, albeight a non-standard version. It is a very

Sound question...

2006-06-12 Thread Rick Ross
Thanks to members of this forum for helping this VNC-newbie get up and running. The only question I have now is if it's possible to get sound to work over the VNC connection. Currently, I get to see my desktop from my laptop. But when I run a program via VNC that way, I don't get any sound. Am

Since both these have SP2, check to make sure the Windows XP built-in firewall is NOT enabled. SP2 sets it to enabled automatically. That will block the connection. You may want to put exceptions for the VNC Viewer and server on the relevant computers as well, just to be safe. Also, on the server,

There are several apps that will do this for you. Look at Kaboodle or EchoVNC. Both will do what you want, I believe. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of lim Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006 8:06 AM To: vnc-list@realvnc.com Subject:

Ahh.. Yes, that could be a problem. You might have to do some digging to find something like that for the ultra-portable O/S. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of lim Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006 12:43 PM To: vnc-list@realvnc.com Subject:
