The password is encrypted. You will either have to enter it in to the
password settings box in VNC and copy the encrypted value from the
registry, or use VncEnc to tell you the encoded value of the password.
You can get VncEnc from http://www.darkage.co.uk/vnc/howto/vncenc.htm
In fact if the
You can use VNCpwd to remotely change a VNC password on a Windows box (NT,
2000 XP). I guess you'd need to restart the service (use SC) to the
change to be complete.

Hi folks,
having some trouble with a machine here and can't figure out why.
The situation is that, upon every reboot the VNC password appears to
become corrupted. I can still connect to the server but it does not
accept the password until I manually go to the machine, bring up VNC
Ideas:
- are you sure you are setting the password in the default properties, not the user
properties? (if you are setting it in the user properties, you would be connect with
vnc only when you are logged on, and a reboot will log you of hence the idea)
- look at the registry keys, see if that
A possible simple fix would be to click on Run Service Helper in the VNC listing of
the Start Menu, it's helped some people before.

You could have a registry confusion. I you are running it as a service,
then open regedit and delete h_key_currentuser/software/orl/winvnc3
Stop and restart the service and all should be fine.

VNC was written so that the server properties always shows a password length

Can't give you a good reason why, but that's the way it is.

Read the documentation. It states that only the first 8 characters
