About the only thing I can think of that vnc changes is the load on the machine and
the network connection to it. This might affect speed of opening dialog boxes and
other responses. Could your script be failing on that? To test, perhaps you could make
something that kick's off the test after 5
A few things:
- when on your lan, always use the lan's internal adresses, but I think you know that.
- try viewing home desk 1 from home desk 2 and vice-versa
- if the above does work, it's something with the wireless stuff. Have you done things
to secure the wireless that might interfere here?
Ideas:
- are you sure you are setting the password in the default properties, not the user
properties? (if you are setting it in the user properties, you would be connect with
vnc only when you are logged on, and a reboot will log you of hence the idea)
- look at the registry keys, see if that
the screen, or even crash. The fix may be to turn off CoRRE at
That's not it I'm afraid, at least I turned off CoRRE in the setitngs when I set up
ChromiVnc, and have just checked: it's still off.
ChromiVNC, or to use TightVNC which I understand fixed this
bug a long time ago.
Hmm, I
Anyone know how I can push the enter key on the numeric keypad on a Mac OS9 machine
with a chromivnc server, while connecting from windows with the 3.3.7 realvnc client?

intensive task has finished to see if the viewer comes back to life, but it doesn't).
Anyone aware of any workarounds? (I don't mind reconnecting every time)

All of this seems to point to a problem at your end, not so much the connection but
the software. wether that is vnc or something else doing something wrong is a bit hard
to determine... Ideas:
- virusscanner: vnc was recently used in a virus. An overly protective scanner may
interfere, e.g.
This worm is reported to use VNC as the active control component of
infected machines.
[..]
I don't know that there is much we can do, but it has to be
bad news that
VNC is being used as the control agent in this attack.
It is bad news for the popularity of vnc, off course. However, it
) on the chromivnc server settings allowed me to reconnect
again as before.
any ideas anyone?

there, it sort of 'doubles' them (see
above where '/' - '=' and '=' - '-', now '/' - '-', it's transitive! ;-)
Anyone found a good solution for this yet?

- What happens when you try to connect?
- A possible ristricition is that the ports vnc tries to use are blocked somewhere,
either outgoing at work or incoming at your isp (my cable provider blocks some stuff,
never tested vnc though)

In answer to this question, I thought it was worth giving
comments on my
own experiences of VNCing on the Mac, so this is quite long...
Thanks for typing all this out for me...
