Ok I dropped a bomb on this system.. Hiackthis the heck out of it.
VNC now stays on port 5900 when system reboots!.. But I still cannot
connect... Even from a computer in the same network.
I check the vnc serivce icon on the
causing the trouble.
Cheers,

Craig,
Something on your computer is changing the value - you may want to scan it
for viruses or other malware that might be tampering, and ensure that you
don't have any policies in effect that might break things

Change the port to 5901.. System is waiting for connection... Connection
works when adding :5901 to viewer.
Now what you've got sounds more like a firewall issue on the server. Do
you have a 3rd party one installed or is just the Windows one running?

It shows 5900 as the port...until I restart the computer and
check the key
again.. Its then 4900 again

Thanks James.
This system is a windows 2000 pro system not on a domain. There are no
policies in place.
I will run more scans looking for nonsense in the background.
The registry reflects the same port misconfiguration

Craig,
What does the registry show immediately after you have re-set the port to
the normal value via the VNC Server

Yeah its interesting..
I have made sure it's the service mode and not the user mode
I am adjusting
(service mode starts when computer boots).
I have uninstalled and whacked the registry of all VNC
settings...numerous
times

Craig,
Check out
Craig,
Are you sure you haven't accidentally installed VNC 4.1.2 without removing a
VNC 3 or VNC 3 based server first?

Hi Craig,
You may want to check the settings via the VNC Server Properties dialog and
