Set up an unused laptop with Voyage MPD 0.8.0 and added the required line to /etc/fstab to mount a CIFS NAS. Worked fine, using MPoD as a cient. Then I decided to try a Tanscend StorJet 500Gb USB HDD so I commented out the NAS mount in /etc/fstab and plugged in the USB drive (also disconnected
