Get the netinst CD image from:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/3.1_r2/i386/iso-cd/debian-31r2-i386-netinst.iso
If you build the debian kernel package, you can run dpkg -i
kernel_package.deb. Make sure lilo points to correct kernel installed.
