Could we mention this on a page somewhere on the Challenge site? As we definitively reached the financial goal, I don't see the necessity to inform people about this date any longer. With the donated money the process to establish the foundation can probably be started earlier. As we ask for donations supporting our ongoing work and tasks, I don't think that a date should fix any end point - we will need donations in future too... BTW ... how many days are remaining? The date mentioned has been 21st of March, so this should be 23 days. Best regards Bernhard Thanks Bernhard. So the donation or Challenge site is really no longer a challenge site but an ongoing request for funding? Or is the Challenge site going to be closed at the end of the 21st of March? If it is an ongoing request for funding, we should perhaps tie it in with the LibreOffice-- Get Involved -- Donors section of the site. We now have the capital stock, so the initial challenge is no more. However, I didn't want to stop that site just after eight days. My plan is to leave it online until March 21st (and we can add that date back again, of course, seems I removed it during the page renewal), and then have a generic donate.documentfoundation.org page. Bernhard already asked me about it - sorry if my reply was rude. I've been working for nearly two weeks for TDF, so I really need some days off for working on my real life. :-) We can do the donation page, but at the moment, I cannot contribute technically nor with content. But, in short, the plan is: Leave the challenge page until March 21st, in the meantime prepare a generic donation page, and use that from now on. We still can decide if it should have a counting banner (why not). [libreoffice-website] Greetings! An Introduction.
Hello! I apologise in advance for my inability to construct a well formed e-mail. I'm not great with these things! Hi guys, my name is Aidan Church, I'm a 20 year old Computer Science student from Dublin, Ireland and I've been looking to get involved with an open source project which I use and like. I've decided I would like to get involved with LibreOffice. I chose the Web Admin team because I've found myself missing the Sysadmin / Webadmin work I did for my Universities Internet Society which I haven't been involved with this year and I would love to get involved with a project worthwhile. I wouldn't describe myself as the most knowledgeable System Administrator / Web Developer in the world but I hope I would be of some use! I've been reading the Wiki and am currently looking over the mailing list archives to bring myself up to speed with where everything is at. I've some experience with Debian / FreeBSD System Administration, MySQL, Apache, Ruby, Java, Javascript, CSS/HTML and some php. I'm always up for learning more and I guess that's one of my main goals with all of this, is to learn more and keep up to speed with the latest tech to compliment what I learn in University. I guess my next question(s) are.. what would the next step be? What areas do you guys currently need help with? What would you suggest I do? I've never actually gotten involved with a project so I apologise for the noobie questions you've probably heard many times before. Hope to hear from you guys soon. In any case, I apologize for my insistence on these issues that I think are often important. Greetings. Hi Daniel: I think you wanted to post this in the US Marketing list? I will answer you on the US Marketing list. What I don't understand is why currently there is 2 DVD in US including French, 1 in French and another in preparation by the German group that will be international. May be it would be more effective to work on the one that will be international or at least not duplicate the work. My offer to help is still available, however as already said, I'm not going to proofread Google, and I don't think the French group would like and have time to duplicate the work 3 times. Where is the announcement that the German group is working on an international disk? Is this an approved version from the SC? I have not seen it mentioned on any list? Where are the 2 DVD in US and 1 in French? Our wiki page on LibreOffice on DVD has been up for quite a while.[1] My offer to help is still available, however as already said, I'm not going to proofread Google, and I don't think the French group would like and have time to duplicate the work 3 times. We are prepping the English version and then hope to have it translated to French and not from Google. I agree, there should not be duplication of the work. There is no announcement, I've read on [I don't remember which list] and I don't see why the SC should approve it. Providing an international installer doesn't request to be approved. Our wiki page on LibreOffice on DVD has been up for quite a while.[1] There is the one from Fabian, the one you're working on - which are the 2 US and the one from the FR community. Kind regards Sophie Fabian's version was put together for workshops and was not worked out with the N.American market in mind. I have not seen the one from the FR community ... could you point me to it? The one we are working on, has a team of US Marketing team members contributors, 2 interested Spanish members from S.America.[1] The supported languages for now are: EN, ES (the two most spoken languages in the US) and FR-Canadian and BR-PT could be included depending on the feedback from the BrOffice members. We are very visible on the US Marketing list and have had many discussions about the disk with the members on the list. The initial target market was for N.America and with the interest of the S.American members we offered to include Central/S.Amer. along with the disc. The disc could then be called an Americas disk with files specifically targeted to these markets. There has already been concerns voiced in the US about the Hispanic groups being neglected and this should address these concerns. A disc made by North/Central/South Americans for their needs. We also plan to offer a CD version.
