        Which Windows 2000?

Microsoft has adopted a new naming scheme to make things
simpler for end users who were confused by the Windows 9x/Windows NT
distinction. So, according to my current understanding of things:

 - VxDs don't work on 'Windows 2000 Professional', 'Windows 2000
Server', 'Windows 2000 Advanced Server' and 'Windows 2000 Terminal
Server' which are all based on NT technology.

 - VxDs should work on 'Windows 2000 Millenium Edition' which is the
successor to Windows 98, based on Windows 9x code and which should be
released later this year (or maybe beginning of next?)

Simple, isn't it?

Now as far as making things easier for Wine, I guess that now that more
people are starting to use the NT based Windows 2000 (because now it's
usable on laptops for instance), we should see fewer applications using
VxDs. But on the other hand I also expect Windows 2000 to contain new
APIs which we will have to implement.
