i have difficulty gathering the contents of an e-mail. So any idea on how
to gather these values(FROM,TO,SUBJECT,DATE) from the packet-smtp.c
dissector.
Any idea is most appriciated.

why did you remote wireshark-tap-register.c
from the makefile?
wireshark doesnt build under linux without this file.

I have been using the Lua plugin to quickly write and test my dissector.
However I was wondering if there is any support for heuristic dissectors
in Lua and if not if it is planned. The Lua support has been great for
fast prototyping.
Looking at the code it appears there isn't support
No planning on anything...
Still it shouldn't be too complex to add heuristic dissectors...
We should:
- change the current lua dissector (the wrapper that invokes the
lua user function) to use the signature of a new-style dissector and
pass the return of the lua function.
- change the register

I write an own dissector and I have two problems:
1st problem:
I want to save a attribute in a packet and an another packet should be able to
read that attribute.
example: first packet save a number in a variable and perhaps the 10th packet

I am trying to compile the wireshark by following the instructions
word-by-word given at
http://www.wireshark.org/docs/wsdg_html_chunked/ChSetupWin32.html
Only that instead of getting the source through subversion, I have
downloaded version 1.0.0.0 zipped code.
