The same as I am seeing and as stated in my other thread this is caused by a Quicktags js error. You guys must also be getting a JS error of some kind. I have tried to trace this but I still don't see where Quicktags comes into the Dashboard but it is being loaded and being loaded by WP...

XAMPP for Windows works amazingly well on a Windows machine and it's fairly easy to install and setup. Keep in mind though that there are certain quirks with a local WordPress sandbox using XAMPP that you may or may not see with an online host. For example, I have a locally installed WordPress

I'm on asmallorange and 2.6 was slow for me, upgrading to 2.7 has proven faster though. Well, it did. I used to get the code from the trunk every day and upgrade, it seemed to get faster, then I upgraded to the 2.7 beta and it was slow. :/ Guess I'm not alone. ASO is getting a bit sluggish though.

Thank you Kirk, I deactivated all my plugins to check the installation as you suggested, but that didn't changed anything in my blog performance. I'm running my blog on a FreeBSD 5.5 with apache 2.0.63 and (su)php 5.2.6. I dod also switched to the default theme, but no changes! Any ideas?

I can confirm slowness with 2.7, been running the default theme for a while now too. All plugins seem fine as well. It's not the front-end that's slow, its when logging into and loading the admin control panel. There is one thing though, that hasn't been applied since moving hosts, and that

Okay, in my previous testing of 2.7, even without Gears enabled, the 2.7 (nightly builds) Admin in the past has been significantly faster than the 2.6 series until the very last few builds. The Admin seems to grind to a halt at times and other times it just crawls between pages. It even caused

Okay, I think I see your problem. When doing a upgrade to the next version of WordPress via FTP, always make sure you *delete* the wp-admin and wp-includes directories first *then* upload the new directories, do not overwrite these directories with the new ones, you'll always have problems.

I found my problem. It seems that the guy running my host here, had a hack for the PHP.INI to up the import space available. (from 2 megs to 8 or something...) got rid of the file and now everything is working... Whew! all my plug ins are working too.. which is interesting... -Paleo Pat

It depends on your host. I haven't a clue about CPanel, but I would imagine it would be under system logs. If not you can generally get to it by looking in the logs folder that is generally just outside the htdocs folder, that's the folder you put all website content in. 2008/11/2 Paleo Pat
