It'll take a few hours for the cached information (that 2.6.5 was the
latest) to be cleared before the 2.7 info is downloaded, IIRC, it checks
every 12 hours.

If your working with Wordpress 2.6.5 you dont get an anounsment that
Wordpress 2.7 is out
When I opened firefox, wordpress helper told me that there's 2.7 and the
status bar now says 2.7...
