However, there might be configuration options for the MATE window manager (marco, I guess). After using the kwin --replace, the borders go away. Any idea where I can configure the window manager to use? I don't see an option in the x2go client. This looks like you are using a compositing window manager. Does it look ok if you run openbox --replace or kwin --replace inside the session?
