When using 14.04 I don't have this issue. It's only when using 14.10 that I do. The screenshot was on Xubuntu and indeed I now tried plain Ubuntu and installed mate, it doesn't give me those errors. After installing xfce (on plain Ubuntu), that error and slightly different look of the desktop
