To do this, (re)move this file out of the way.

Then XFree86 will use
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libint10.a
Which is the emulator. Does it still lockup with that BIOS call ?

A program can't do
Xscreensaver uses OpenGL for many of the screensavers. It's most
likely OpenGL driver bugs.

files partion to partion and I think I got it all. But only one thing

You're not using NVIDIA's drivers. You're using the nv driver
that comes with XFree86. Perhaps your are editing the wrong config

The nv driver has no 3D acceleration. OpenGL
I've been playing further with this and have noticed that when the
xserver dies, it either claims a Segmentation Fault or a fatal IO
error (see output below). Does this help at all?
