It's probably XFree86 driver instability. Most likey due
to misunderstood hardware subtleties or hardware bugs that have
not been worked around. You should really get some newer software.
Your X-server is more than three years old and there have undoubtedly
been many bug fixes since then.

Hello,
I have ct69000 on motherboard. On XFree86-3.3.6 I'd set CMOS to 1024x768 and
XF86Config (see below) to 800x600 and have X running full-screen from which
I assume driver senses resolution difference and sets videochip to scale
automatically.
But on XFree86-4.5.0 with the same CMOS and

Hi,
I am having some difficulty understanding the fundamental
differences between xfree86 drivers and linux kernel drivers. Is
there a good reference somewhere?
I have read that xfree86 drivers are really user space programs
that map the graphic video memory and then access it. If so does

I'm not sure a reference is really necessary. The only problem is that
the word driver is overloaded. XFree86

Hi folks,

To be a hair-splitting, not completely correct:
kernel drivers (at least on GNU/Linux) can be either built into

Hi,
For non x86 architecture like PowerPC, I understand that xfree86
is able to initialize PCI graphic cards, by emulating the VGA
BIOS extension located on the graphic card.
We are using IBM Maple platform (featuring a IBM 970 ppc64

Yes, the XaaNoMono8x8PatternFillRect did solve my problem.
But I also do some other experiments. I download XFree86_4_4 and make World

Thanks for your help.
I closed all the CPUToScreenColorExpand I report to XAA. But the text is
still blurred, so I mark the callback functions one by one and the text
become clear until unmarked the 8x8 mono pattern fill.
Does that mean the application like remotedesktop can have different

Hi! I'm looking at getting a new PC and the one I'm looking at has an
integrated ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 video adapter.
I looked at the XFree86 4.6.0 ATI Radeon driver list of supported hardware and
didn't see the XPRESS 200 listed:
