I'm (still) writing an output driver for a network attached device. My
question of the day is:
How can I call the usual socket operations from an XFree output driver?
There are dire warnings about not including the usual system include files
(sys/types.h and sys/socket.h).

I'm doing very similar and, too, am having much trouble finding any
information on how things work, etc...
If I find anything I'll let you know, but for now the best I can suggest
is http://www.atomised.org/docs/XFree86-4.2.1/
