[XFree86] Hardware acceleration : why not?

hi ya all list, I'd ask a stupid question: how could I enale hardware aceleration on my matrox g400 video board, it runs correctly but when I tried to use 3ddesktop it said that I have no hw acc., but I have it native compiled in my kernel?!? So may some1 help me? tnx for anything. edgek --
