First of all, I want to explain that I have a problem with a computer that runs red hat 9.0. I canĀ“t start the XWindow and I think that the problem is my graphic card, that is an ati radeon 9200 pro.

version of X 4.x so I figured now was as good a time
as any to ask...

black (but not into powersave) and nothing displays.

only affects the primary mouse.
It should either affect both, or preferably have an option
to specify which mouse to alter.

Hi,
I get the digest and am composing this on the web, so
sorry to not include previous posts.
I see from the digest that one sets the X server via a
link /etc/X11/X. Thats interesting. When I looked
-Backspace gets me back to a prompt. Upon further inspection, the
newly created XF86Config file contains no references to modes or modelines - is
this normal for XFree86 4.2..??
Any guidance to the next step I should be taking would be much
appreciated.

I just compiled the official release source under SuSE 7.1 which uses
GCC 2.95.2 ... I just did a 'make World' then a 'make install' then a
'make install.man'.
Still get the current problem, but it did compile okay.
