slackware 8.1, and liked it, but had an ATI rage 128 32MB video card back
then. That one went kaput, and I bought an MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200, Now i
loaded up slackware 9.0 (never tried 8.1 w/ new card), and i cant get the x

This card wasn't supported by the nv driver that came with
XFree86 until the most recent version - XFree86 4.3. Upgrading to
4.3 will add support for that card. Alternatively, you can install
NVIDIA's binary Linux drivers with earlier versions of XFree86
(back as far as 4.0.1).
