You're missing an 'EndSection' directive after the 'FontPath' line (ie, for the 'files' section) No idea why installing MySQL etc would do anything with your X config file! If you still want to generate a new one, use 'xf86config' or (better, IMHO) 'X -configure' -Oli = Original
