If NVIDIA's binary drivers support that Debian release then you can probably run it with NVIDIA's binary drivers. The nv driver that comes with XFree86 didn't support that chip until XFree86 4.3.0 (and it probably has some problems restoring the console, so 4.4.0 probably works better). I
