is there a 4.3.0 version xserver on your system?
your xserver version is 4.1.0 while using driver version 4.3.0,
probably its not a good idea to use them at the same time.
did u partially upgrade your system ?
consider using a up-to-date version of xfree86(4.5.0) or at least
use a full 4.3.0

I am running red hat linux machine on vmware ...I attended to change
the resolution of the display from 800x600 to 1024x768..
But I didn't worked properly also giving the fatal error message..
What is the remedy

I believe you want to be using the i810 driver rather than
the i740 driver. It may also be that your i845G isn't well
supported by the driver back in XFree86 4.3.0 (your version) - it's
hard to keep track of what supported what. Give it a try though;
it might work fine in 4.3.0.
Can you post the /var/log/XFree86.0.log from a running server?
The one attached seemed to be only from a -probeonly or -version
query.

a correctly working server at 800x600 in depth 8. I don't
