[XFree86] Problem with ATI 3D Rage P/M Mobility

2003-07-03 Thread Andreas Mielke
I am using a IBM Thinkpad A20m with a ATI 3D Rage P/M Mobility card
installed. XFree86 Version 4.3 supports this card using the ati-driver.
Nevertheless, there is a small problem: I am not able to switch between
the external and internal monitor with the Fn+F7 key. Pressing Fn+F7 on
the thinkpad normally cycles between internal only, internal+external
and external only. I already mentioned this problem in a previous
message. A solution is to use the frame buffer device fbdev, where Fn+F7
works fine.

Is this a known problem for ati in Version 4.3? (Version 3.x does not
have this problem).

Best Regards,

Andreas

Here is my XF86Config with fbdev (generated using SaX2), almost the same
configuration can be used with ati, see my previous mail:

This is intentional behaviour. For now, switch outputs outside of X.

Dear Marc,

O.k. But what exactly do you mean by 'switch outputs outside of X' ?

Thanks,

Andreas
