Hello,

I have some problem with my Toshiba portable model Satellite 2140 with windows 98 operative system. I believe this model doesn't support direct TV output. That's why I bought a PC to TV converter of Plug and play type, which is compatible for windows 98 using the PS/2 output to get the power. And first time when I tried it, it worked fine using LCD/CRT option from Display property.
Because there isn't any graphic icon for TV on that window. Later on when I tried it again, it didn't give any signal to TV. I tried different troubleshooting to find out the reasone, but without any successes.

This is some of the thing I have done,

· Removed the 2 monitor drives by just deleting them and restarted the machine with device connected, then it is asking to install them again using the best drive option. In this case
Plug and play or standard type, no successes.

· I am sure that the input for TV is good because I tried the input using video camera and it's working fine. And I also got another new converter to make sure that 's not the converter's
Fault. But neither that one worked.

So my conclusion is that the machine some how can't find the devise, this might be either a corrupt display adapter drive which is S3 virge/mx for S3 virge display adapter type. The reason for this is because when I activate the secondry monitor and after that I go to property and identify the monitor, but it doesn't find the monitor.

When it comes to hardware question? I am not sure if the Display adapter card (graphic controller) can be damaged!?!
In this case how can I find out more about it? Because the machine doesn't come up with any type of error
Related to either software or hardware. I will be appreciated for your detail answer.
